5 clever uses for ice trays
I love ice trays! There’s nothing better than an ice-cold drink, clinking with ice cubes to cool you on a scorching hot day, but they have so many other uses too.
Here are some of my suggestions:
Freeze some of your recently made coffee in the trays and add them to your iced coffee. Normal ice cubes water down the flavour, but now… problem solved.
I’ll admit it doesn’t happen often with me, but if you have any wine left over, pour it into the trays. They’re perfect for when you need to add some wine to a recipe. This is also nifty for leftover stock.
Like me, I’m sure you often have leftover basil pesto, which risks going off if you don’t use it quickly. To avoid this, I put it into my trays – one cube is perfect for a salad dressing.
When serving water in a jug, it looks so pretty when you have some mint leaves frozen in the ice cubes.
When a recipe calls for the egg yolks only, there’s no need to throw away the whites. One egg white fits neatly into an ice cube – perfect for freezing and using later.
